New Gene Test Provides Approximate Survival Rates for Mesothelioma Patients

According to a study published in the 6th May Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCIA), scientists have recently invented a test that can accurately predict that mesothelioma patients have the best chance of opstanak.Test is also useful for identifying patients who will be the best candidates for surgery, another treatment option for mesothelioma cancer.

tests for determining the ratio of the four genes present in tissue samples of mesothelioma cancer patients and comparing them with samples of tissue from patients who have survived mesothelioma cancer for more vrijeme.Gen Test proved to provide consistent and easily repeatable results in various research campus. Despite the different technicians using different instruments in different laboratories, the test showed high efficacy rates.

The survey was designed by Dr. Raphael Bueno, assistant chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery and director of the Thoracic Surgery Residency Program Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Before that, predict ing the patient's prognosis is an invasive process, according to Dr Bueno, major surgery was required to adequately predict the outcome. In the interest of creating more accessible, less invasive and accurate test for information, Dr. Bueno and his team looked preexisting cancer tests. Specifically, the team looked at two genes on the basis of test methods that were used to predict recurrence of breast cancer. Although this technology is not widely used because of the heavy logistics requirements, provided enough inspiration, an incentive to Dr Bueno and his team are developing what could be one of the biggest steps forward in the accurate diagnosis of mesothelioma over the past few years.

published in JNCIA study was to determine how accurate the test predicted the survival of patients. Researchers examined tissue samples of 120 mesothelioma patients and followed their cases through 2007 or until his death. Using the ratio of test gene, the researchers categorized participants into two groups: good result group and the poor outcome group. On average, the poor outcome group survived 9.5 months;. Good result group survived 16.8 months, almost double the survival rate

Since this test is so revealing about the survival of patients, it provides an opportunity for families and individuals to choose the best treatment option for mesothelioma cancer. Patients with a good ratio of gene test results may be more likely to benefit from surgery, while the lower survival rate for groups looking for the best supportive care available.

Mesothelioma is often very debilitating condition that may require large amounts of physical therapy and treatment options, and to require thousands of dollars in medical costs. It is common for many patients to discuss with an experienced mesothelioma lawsuit personal injury lawyer.

to contact a mesothelioma lawyer, the patient is increasing their chances of receiving money as compensation for damages suffered due to mesothelioma cancer. In addition, mesothelioma lawsuit can result in a refund of expensive medical bills, as well as open the door for patients to receive expensive medical care that might otherwise have been able to afford or receive.
